A disciplinary panel found a nurse in Bristol guilty of 9 appalling counts of misconduct. She was struck off the nursing register as the panel heard that she poured surgical spirit into the open wound of an elderly patient whilst employed as Matron at a nursing home.
The panel were also informed of other offences which included, leaving elderly patients covered in faeces, refusing to call a doctor when a patient's condition deteriorated, failing to give prescribed medication, failure to check a patient for injuries following a fall, dealing inappropriately with the same injuries and failure to store drugs correctly.
The Director of Professional Conduct said "This is an appalling catalogue of management failures, dishonesty, poor quality of care and various forms of patient abuse"
